Concerts & Performances

Small group class, Adult Group Class, Saturday afternoon class, Individual, Holistic Vocal Group and Sunday Breakfast Club students are invited to perform at Mid Year and End of year Concerts. The Victorian Concerts are held at The New Capers in Hawthorn Melbourne, a well-established professional cabaret venue.

A performance workshop/masterclass is held prior to the Concerts which enables Karen or another senior teacher to have an opportunity to work with each student or groups as they prepare their performance pieces. This is a great confidence booster and settles any nerves leading up to the concert performance.

During the workshop/rehearsal the students are given advice on stage presentation and the work that goes on behind the scenes prior to a performance eg: how to work with sound, foldback speakers, stage technique etc. In some cases, the students’ own teachers will also be present, in some instances to provide musical backing for their students and in others to be there for moral support as practical and as needed. The Capers sound and lighting technicians are also present over the course of all workshops to work with the students as they prepare for the concert.

Our students even if performing for the first time have all welcomed the opportunity to perform in a professional venue and have really grown in confidence from the experience.
