After more than 25 years as a singer and performer (see www.karenKnowles.com.au) and following years of requests, Karen has established her own Singing School. Karen leads many of the Victorian classes herself and oversees curriculum at the School nationally while engaging other well-trained and experienced singers and teachers in various roles.

What sets the School apart is:

• the quality of the vocal training (all teachers are personally selected by Karen and very well rounded and well trained singers, performers and teachers);
• the opportunity for each student’s unique voice to be a main focus of the training;
• the musical breadth of what is offered at the School
• the School’s focus on musicianship and performance

The tuition is tailored to fit the student’s age, level and interest so it brings out the best in each student. The pathway towards performance has many off-shoots that are open at the School for a student to pursue as they develop their skills and explore new genres and interests.

All styles of music are covered at the School including pop, rock, jazz, music theatre, acappella; Brazilian, Portuguese, African, Indigenous Australian and African music. Songwriting is also incorporated into our holiday workshop program and many of our term classes and there has been a very positive response to this from students. We are very glad for the opportunity to foster students self expression.

It is Karen's belief that the student's natural voice should lead their vocal development and choice of a suitable teacher is a critical component in ensuring that happens. Some students may wish to sing solely for enjoyment, others may choose to follow music as a career. All paths are individual and equally valid and the School aims to tailor tuition according to the individual requirements of each student.

Students are invited to perform at Mid Year and End of year Concerts (currently offered in Victoria and to be added in Brisbane and Sydney). Karen Knowles or one of the School’s other senior teachers works with all participants in a performance workshop/masterclass leading up to the concert performances.
