Concerts & Performances

Small group class, Adult Group Class, Individual and Sunday Breakfast Club students are invited to perform at Mid Year and End of year Concerts (currently offered in Victoria). The Victorian Concerts are held at The New Capers in Hawthorn Melbourne, a well-established professional cabaret venue.

We hold a performance workshop/masterclass prior to the Concerts so Karen or another senior teacher has an opportunity to work with each student leading up to the concert performance.

During the workshop/rehearsal the students are given advice on stage presentation and the work that goes on behind the scenes prior to a performance eg: how to work with sound, foldback speakers, stage technique etc. In some cases, the students’ own teachers will also be present, in some instances to provide musical backing for their students and in others to be there for moral support as practical and as needed. The Capers sound and lighting technicians are also present over the course of all workshops to work with the students as they prepare for the concert.

Our students even if performing for the first time have all welcomed the opportunity to perform in a professional venue and have really grown in confidence from the experience.
